Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T.Harv Eker 224 pages

Happy Happy New Year 2011.
Sharing notes and my thoughts (KJ) about the book 'Secrets of the Millionaire Mind': Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth by T.Harv Eker.
“It all comes down to this: if your subconscious ‘financial blueprint’ is not ‘set’ for success, nothing you learn, nothing you know, and nothing you do will make much of a difference.”

~ T. Harv Eker from Secrets of the Millionaire Mind
KJ-> Think of your brain as a computer. Our beliefs are software programs loaded in our computer. If the program is not getting you the desired results, you need to update the program or install a new program that gives the results you want. So find a way to change your beliefs about your financial success. Hypnotherapy is highly effective in changing / rewiring ourselves.

PLAYING TO WIN

“The first thing I did was commit to my success and playing to win. I swore I would focus and not even consider leaving this business until I was a millionaire or more. This was radically different from my previous efforts, where, because I always thought short-term, I would constantly get side-tracked by either good opportunities or when things got tough.”

KJ-> This is really BIG! How many times we give up or start something else when the going becomes tough. I know I have done that and get tempted to do it many times. Take the easy way out. But if you really want to persue what you are passionate about and make money from it, you have to persist. Work SMART not just HARD. Use the power of your mind to help you work SMART. There will be struggles, obstacles on the path to success, we all know that. Commit to riding these struggles and coming out a winner.

DECLARATIONS VS. AFFIRMATIONS
“An affirmation states that a goal is already happening. I’m not crazy about this because, often when we affirm something that is not yet real, the little voice in our head usually responds with ‘This isn’t true, this is BS’ … On the other hand, a declaration is not saying something is true, it’s saying we have an intention of doing or being something. This is a position the little voice can buy, because we’re not stating it’s true right now, but again, it’s an intention for us in the future.”
KJ-> This really depends on how you state your affirmations according to me. You can state your affirmation in a declarative tone, something happening, in the process of happening etc versus stating a fact. So go ahead and make your declarations/ affirmations and use them repetitively and consistently. Repetition is the key to mastery (yeah, my clients know that ).

P—>T—>F—>A—>R

“Your programming leads to your thoughts; your thoughts lead to your feelings; your feelings lead to your actions; your actions lead to your results. Therefore, just as is done with a personal computer, by changing your programming, you take the first essential step to changing your results.”

KJ-> Remember the notes I did for ‘Change your Brain, Change your Thoughts’ book. Thoughts are so so powerful. They start the chain of change in you. Thoughts are linked to our feelings, our emotions and our emotions lead us to take action. So assign right thoughts with your affirmations, link feelings and emotions to these thoughts and your powerful mind will direct you to take the actions.

GROW!
“It’s simple arithmetic: ‘Your income can grow only to the extent you do.’”

“You can be a victim or you can be rich, but you can’t be both. Listen up! Every time, and I mean every time, you blame, justify, or complain, you are slitting your financial throat.”

KJ-> I think the statement says it all. It all comes back to your thoughts. Beware of blaming, complaining thoughts! They don’t lead to success. Find things you can learn from any situation and believe me, there is always something to learn from every experience.
THOUGHTS & RENT

“No thought lives in your head rent-free.”

KJ-> Amazing statement. Something to reflect on, think about. Every thought produces a physiological reaction in your body. So negative, unproductive thoughts are really really expensive. BEWARE!

STEERING WHEELS

“If you want to create wealth, it is imperative that you believe that you are at the steering wheel of life, especially your financial life.”

KJ-> Don’t act like a victim. What can I do, the economy is in a bad state etc etc. Take charge of your financial success. There are people making money in every economy, so it’s an excuse to blame the circumstances. We are the creators of our future.

ARMS & LEGS

“Let me put it bluntly: anyone who says that money isn’t important doesn’t have any! Rich people understand the importance of money and the place it has in our society. On the other hand, poor people validate their financial ineptitude by using irrelevant comparisons. They’ll argue, ‘Well, money isn’t as important as love.’ Now, is that comparison dumb or what? What’s more important, your arm or your leg? Maybe they’re both important.”

KJ-> Check your beliefs about money. What are the beliefs. Are they helping you in reaching your goal of financial independence. If not, do you need to change them, reprogram your beliefs. Take time to reflect.

DON’T COMPLAIN!

“Complaining is the absolute worst possible thing you could do for your health or your wealth. The worst! … For the next seven days, I challenge you not to complain at all.”

KJ-> This is a real big one. In fact I think we should make a goal for ourselves in 2011 to transcend complaining and that should pave the way to Nirvana   But seriously do you complain a lot? Do you realize that you are complaining? Are you stating that you are powerless and a victim when you complain? Is that what you want to state? Change your thoughts! Get back in the driver seat, take control of your life.
WANTING VS. COMMITTING

“Rich people are committed to being rich. Poor people want to be rich.”

KJ-> Check it out, rich people are ‘COMMITTED’. That’s the key word. Just wanting most likely will not get you financial success. You have to have goals, you have to be COMMITTED to your goals. In fact, I do classes on Goal Setting. Not only you need to have goals, you need to learn how to define your goals, how to install them in the right levels of your brain where they can be effective, how to manifest these goals. There is real science behind all of this now.

SIZES: YOU VS. YOUR PROBLEMS

“If you have a big problem in your life, all that means is that you are being a small person!”

T. Harv has a great little story about the size of your problems vis-à-vis the size of you and your character.

Imagine you are a person with a character rating of 3 out of 10. You see a problem that is a 4 out of 10. How do you respond? You’re stressed, eh?

Now, imagine you’ve got a character that’s 7 out of 10. How’s that 4 problem look to you? Not that big of a deal, is it? Didn’t think so.

OK. NOW, imagine that you’ve worked on yourself and developed a character of 10 (!) out of 10. You see that 4 problem? Or do you even SEE it as a problem if you’re operating at a 10? I didn’t think so.

GROW and your problems will shrink. It’s that simple.

KJ-> Beautiful story. I am sure you enjoy it as much as I do.

ACTION & INACTION

“Action always beats inaction.”

KJ-> Obvious, right. But how often do we follow it. Take a moment and reflect. If your thoughts are aligned to your goals and you have the right feelings about your goals, then action will follow. So go back to learn how to define and set goals.

BLESSINGS

“Bless that which you want. If you see a person with a beautiful home, bless that person and bless that home. If you see a person with a beautiful car, bless that person and bless that car. If you see a person with a loving family, bless that person and bless that family. If you see a person with a beautiful body, bless that person and bless their body.”

KJ-> Takes away jealousy. Gratitude is a powerful emotion and if you remember the book ‘Power v/s Force’ (check it out on my blog), gratitude will raise your vibrations making it easier to reach your goals.

AFFECTING VS. INFECTING

“Energy is contagious: either you affect people or you infect people… I believe negative thinking is like having measles of the mind. Instead of itching, you get bitching; instead of scratching, you get bashing; instead of irritation, you get frustration. Now, do you really want to be close to people like that?”

KJ-> This is really funny, isn’t it. And beyond fun, it is so profound. Have you met people who drain you, infect you with negativity? Since you are reading this blog, I know you are not one of them. Find a way to protect yourself from these energy infectors / energy drainers.

MONEY MANAGEMENT 101

“I don’t know about you, but where I went to school, Money Management 101 wasn’t offered. Instead we learned about the War of 1812, which of course is something I use every single day.”

KJ-> I really have a lot of thoughts on our school system. I wish they would update it to teach practical things that will be really useful in life. I see some of the teachers are so insistent on following exact steps in maths that they will punish a kid for using a better way. Where is creative thinking? Hmm, don’t want to go down this path.

CZ = WZ

“Here’s an equation I want you to remember for the rest of your life: CZ = WZ. It means your ‘comfort zone’ equals your ‘wealth zone.’ By expanding your comfort zone, you will expand the size of your income and wealth zone.”

KJ-> You must write this on Post-It and stick it where you can see it. Are you spending your day in your comfort zone always. Did you do something outside your comfort zone today? Start expanding your comfort zone and you will expand your brains.

“Comfort kills! If your goal in life is to be comfortable, I guarantee two things. First, you will never be rich. Second, you will never be happy. Happiness doesn’t come from living a lukewarm life, always wondering what could have been. Happiness comes as a result of being in our natural state of growth and living up to our fullest potential.”

~ T. Harv Eker

KJ-> Want to end on this beautiful quote. Life is for learning and growing and not stagnating.
